The Minartment Beginning
What does it mean? What do you do?
I had been calling my creative space a "studio" when my innocent and very literal 6 year old, at the time, son called it a "mini art apartment". Actually, he said "mini art department", but I knew what he meant :) and he wasn't wrong! At 9' x 20', it is quite small, compared to dad's multi-story office building, anyway, I DO do art there, and it does feel like an apartment with the cozy chair, microwave, and fridge. Not unlike a dorm room!
The honesty of his observation was cute and clever and it stuck! But it is quite the mouthful, so after considering a few different short hand versions of the whole name, we settled on Minartment.
Mostly, I knit things on the knitting machine, but I also hand knit, crochet, sew, weave, and anything else you can think of with fiber. I like to think of myself as a fiber artist, but you'll have to be the judge of that!
On this site, I will chronicle my time in the studio. I intend to create soft things you will eventually be able to buy or offer patterns so you can make them on your own, and I will share the design development, along with way too much personal information, in my blog which I hope will be as cute, clever, honest, and accurate as my son.

A Machine Knitting Experience
Spend a few hours in the studio, leave with a scarf or hat.
Come to the minartment, pick a yarn, and either hang out and relax in the nap chair while you sip some tea, enjoy some aroma therapy and your favorite tunes while I knit you a scarf or hat, OR I'll teach you how to knit it yourself!
Learn to Knit
Whether it's hand knitting or machine....
You can learn how to knit at minartment. Children also welcome! We are very patient here. Hand Knitting or Machine Knitting. We will talk about your goals and make a plan for you to learn what you need to know!
Studio Time

Are you a knitwear design student, looking for a quiet place to develop your runway collection? Do you like to sew, but don't have space for a sewing machine? Let's see if we can work out a way for you to use this space, too. Drop me a line using the form at the bottom of the page.

Visits are By Appointment Only during the following hours:
Mon - Tue: 10am - 4pm
Wed: 11am - 4pm
Thur: Closed
Fri: 10am - 3pm
Sat: 10am - 6pm
Sun: 10am - 6pm
